Blogger VS Google: The Adobe Flash War

My daily workhorse computer is an Intel iMac, 27", 10.6.8 and chrome browser that Google calls obsolete. Yeah, a perfect system except Google and now Amazon Prime Video will not function. Why? One reason is DRM is driving the browser bus now. Another reason is Adobe Flash and HTML5.

To kill Flash forever the browser must treat flash as a bug; 1. If browser has flash plugin then allow no video to play and embedded video  becomes a vector to Youtube.

Blogger page is a wasteland. Oh, my mobile renders page perfectly. Go figure.

[Test Day] Embed Google+ Shared Post Containing Video

[ With all the speak-the-text technology a bot cannot read with emotion of a good narrator.  I can't say it any better than Lauren. ]

[ Embedded G+ post in all its simplicity. ]

Updated May 22, 2012 -- Robot (2010) eng sub - Hindi film [Playlist]

Update: May 22, 2012 01:16 EDT.

It never fails; find a cool flick that "seems to be authorized" by one party and it gets taken down by someone else. It is hard to tell how much buzz a youtube post has been generating but at least there is worldwide buzz for the movie. I would venture to say the youtube posting was not authorized by Eros International.

The film Endhiran per October 23, 2010 Indiatimes was kicking ass in theaters, that is, making money like a printing press. I don't think Eros International was worried about online jacking revenue more than any other film. But the DVD release may have changed the playground rules in a way Eros may not have expected.

The DVD and VCD release in March 2011 was a good thing; giving folks a chance to buy the film is always a good thing. As far as I recall Endhiran was posted by a rental site before I noticed the film in November 2011. That folks is not nice, only Eros (the distributor) can approve the youtube posting of the film.

So, the posting was wrong. Did Eros lose any revenue due to "theft" of viewers? No, if anything the opposite happened; like where can I buy the DVD. Ok, that is my collector brain talking so what about the free is free? TANSTAAFL plain and simple.

[----------This part is the original post----------]
Parts 1 to 13 in the playlist.

IF you want to skip to the Ass Kicking Robot takes on the Army (everyone really) just select part 9 and play at 5:45 minutes. The car chase is only the beginning, eat your heart out Roger Corman.

IF you want the good fight scene skip to part 12.

[
Shame the film is 360 instead of 720 [on youtube that is].

[ My concludsion is -- Bummer about youtube. I want the DVD with a code for Region 1 (One).]

Youtube HTML5 staring; Bad Romance & Alien Weed

Note: Testing continues. 04:40 EDT post for status report.
Change #001 [Sep 07 2010 15:33 EDT: Added HTML (Badge verified at youtube) with text description.

Change #002 [Sep 27 2010 03:31 EDT : If you did not join youtube html5 beta you will not see HTML 5 badge.

[--- start here ---]
Sci-Fi 'ish music videos make for better testing than some dry lecture; really is better than blah, blah, blah. Well, some say p0rn is more fun but this is a G-Rated test. [tip: Want to surf p0rn sign up with a company that filters it and proof those URL submits.]

First up is Lady Gaga. My ears tire of pop music quickly but the video is interesting. This embed (The Red One) is fully customized (via youtube); size, color, privacy, what's related and fullscreen. It is standard Flash HTML code.

The Red One - Looks dated huh?

The Second embed is HTML5. The fun part here is when the browser is not HTML5 ready - plain old Flash player is used. The question is: what will google do? Sorry couldn't resist that. So, what will youtube do a runtime? I don't know, will see.
{

}
Should see the minimal light silver player.

Last but not least we need Aliens. How about green and blue ones? Wish granted.
{

}
Ok, that one is just for fun. Aliens have killer weed? Yeah they better, they have the killer spaceships.

Results:

1. I expected both embeds to finish the same, i.e., just a replay button. The only difference in the setup at youtube was putting a check mark in the iframe box, they should be the same; no next video just a replay button. A side effect of pressing next video is a black screen when video ends.

This is change #001 for HTML5 Labeled Video. Note: Video with ads will invoke Flash Player.

Change #002 : If you did not join youtube html5 beta you will not see HTML 5 badge.
