The Space Race - LEGO Saturn V Build - Amy Shira Teitel versus Adam Savage

If the Cold War sounds like government FUD to you then read on. I can't show you (REDACTED) father's documents since they were fetched by serious suits driving black Fords - 1974 I think. Not my problem at the time.

[ The Apollo mission was a project that happens sometimes in history -- think The Great Wall of China, a massive  project driven by the events of the time. The Cold War Soviets already set  the bar by putting a satellite in orbit. All we the USA had was one big bluff. Soviets publicly said they would be 1st, also a bluff.

The public needed an ego boost so President  Kennedy gets on TV and bluffs Soviets. (The rocket people in Army & Air Force had nothing.)

In the 1960's I lived outside Langley AFB on the Hampton side. Then I could walk across the bridge and look around and day dream (restricted areas are well marked and I knew better to test MPs. The contractors were everywhere; ID cards were available to family with limits - Adult accompanies minors.) Loved that wind tunnel.
1969 was magical.

In 1971 I was prepping for a holiday in SE Asia so the MOON was the last thing on my mind.  -Now I'm just the #InvisibleCat called dutch.  (Very Retired)

Answer: I am posting video by people who know the Apollo mission inside and out - History lesson in crafts class.

[ The ultimate space race of all time -- Build LEGO  Saturn V that NASA produced to put man on the moon Apollo 11.  The superpowers are Amy Shira Teitel and Adam Savage (they are on TV so they are equivalent in power.

Vintage Space - Going first with archive of live cast. Long with many bits of fact that may have never made it into NASA History Site and worth the time if you are like me and never did anything with LEGO. Mzz Amy AKA @astVintageSpace is a Space Historian and quite entertaining.

[ Part 2.  Lookit the kitty who is the supervisor no doubt.

[Adam Savage is short at 20 minutes. His video is just a build with fast forward to save time. Three guys, a pretty bench, and no cat. Kind of show & tell for  LEGO fans.

Doug and Tracy's Music Video of Their ISS Mission

UPDATE: If you want the music video part of the briefing go to 8 minute mark.

Click on image for readable copy and it is on http://twitpic.com/4ek3q5

Yeah, you heard it right, Music Video. For starters, it is really good even if the tunes are not in your library. Secondly, this is a low res 320 x 240 upscaled to 640 x 480. If I find the HD version I will post a link to it.

NOTE: Sony claims the song in the video and you may be in a location found in the banned list. And there is an advertisement at the beginning. Newest fact of internet life.

Apollo 11 Week without Conspiracy Theory? NoWay!

I think starting a commentary with the facts would be proper. No! Start with the other stuff. The UFO gang, Faked Mission groups, Hide the film because money in 2009 will be a retirement boost essay kind of talk is a better starting point. So without fan fair Coast2CoastAM vs NASA. George Noory gets 1st move.

[revision 1.0 to 1.4 on July 20, 2009 07:00:42 GMT]
Cat stop! Sit! People need to know something! Most of the popular fake photos talk and a movie set is where LEM really landed "proof'' is a variant of Nash Entertainment's sketchy show "Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon". [1] Reader, you may skip this part and visit it after the 2009 video. History lesson first or jump in the water now?

[1.1] NASA gets news that they faked the moon landing. (has audio version read by author)

[1.2] A well researched and thoughtfully written analysis of the show. http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html

[1.3] FOX gets heat for Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon. Producer of show calls it a Reality Special. We all know what that means. http://www.nashentertainment.com/television/

[1.4] Since 2001 lunar orbit cameras have taken pictures proving we are moon litterbugs. That will not stop the folks who must get public exposure for their theories. They will just change the story as if the "never landed" never happened. This is the where the tapes of the mission are lost because there is something we should not see story begins. We now join the program already in progress ...

The entire 10 segment video is there for your viewing.

Bob Jacobs Headquarters, Washington 202-358-1600 bob.jacobs@nasa.gov
RELEASE: 09-169 NASA MOURNS THE DEATH OF WALTER CRONKITE
WASHINGTON --The following is a statement from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on the death of veteran journalist Walter Cronkite. "It is with great sadness that the NASA family learned of Walter Cronkite's passing. He led the transition from print and radio reporting to the juggernaut that became television journalism. His insight and integrity were unparalleled, and his compassion helped America make it through some of the most tragic and trying times of the 20th century. "From the earliest days of the space program, Walter brought the excitement, the drama and the achievements of space flight directly into our homes. But it was the conquest of the moon in the late 1960s that energized Walter most about exploration. He called it the most important feat of all time and said that the success of Apollo 11 would be remembered 500 years from now as humanity's greatest achievement. "It was Walter Cronkite's impassioned reporting on America's inaugural moon landing that inspired me to join in the dreams of many to travel to space and accept the risks that this exploration brings while I was a student in naval flight training. "In honor of his ethical and enthusiastic coverage of our nations' space program, NASA was proud to honor Walter in 2006 with an Ambassador of Exploration Award and presented him with an Apollo lunar sample. "For decades, we had the privilege of learning about our world from the original 'anchorman.' He was a true gentleman. Our thoughts and prayers are with Walter's family and his millions of friends and supporters." -end-

Friday Fights! DRM vs History! And the winner is? None.

This is not a rant on the chilling effect of DRM & its muscle boy DMCA. I am just too tired to shout at a rock I did not see as I walked through the forest of video upload limitations. So there it is, 1 long day of slow H.264 compressing, recompenses, upload click-thru legal stiff and wait for the gate to open on the video site. RIGHT!

Finally here is the Test Video that is far from good. Hay, got too find the rocks before cracking a toe on one.

More later after the R&R plus ball game. Yes, cable --- maybe I should record it and sleep. Nope, no digital recording allowed, and very little analog signal-out is on new equipment (analog hole closed says MPA/RIAA). But that is another fight.

Welcome Home Endeavour

Hi, landing replay joined in progress. TV-2 is cool. So, bad weather at FL equals good landing at Edwards AB in CA.
